Vendor profile:

The Ritchie family branched out into Pedigree Limousin's in 2014 when they bought the 15,000gns Emslie Earl heifer. The Limousin's attracted the Ritchie family, due to how easy they are to market, how milky the females are and how well the cattle conceive at bulling.  The Ritchie's herd calve down around 15 calves every year, calving from Spring to Autumn and all the times in between. In the foundation stages of the herd they AI’d every cow, but now for ease and to save time all females run with a bull.

The Ritchie's sell all over the UK, including Stirling, Carlisle and off-farm, which is where Aileen has had the most success.  The Ritchie's sold a heifer calf from Spice’s sire, Carnew Millreef, for 10,000gns, as a calf, which is the highest price the herd has achieved, so just imagine what Spice could make for them?!.

The Ritchie family bought Carnew Millreef for 14,000gns and Brockhurst Howzat for 24,000gns.  Putting Spice in the perfect position to be worth a lot of money.  Spice’s dam goes back to Brockhurst Bolshoi who won shows consistently from 2012 to 2014, shown as a cow and a cow with a calf at foot.  The power and style that Bolshoi has is incredible and it's no wonder that she was top of the breed for many years.  Bolshoi is by the famous 55,000gns Grahams Samson.  After Bolshoi won the supreme champion at the Royal Highland Show, the Great Yorkshire Show and the Royal Welsh show she retired from the show ring and still goes on to produce many great additions to the breed.  The mother of Spice produces calf after calf of quality for Ritchie's herd, meaning they sell no females from her at all, they keep them all as replacements. "Spice offers a unique opportunity into a fantastic maternal breeding line".
