Glebefarm Porterhouse is an eye-catching Myostatin free Beef Shorthorn bull got by ET from a mating of Canadian Grand Champion bull and globally renowned sire HC Free Spirit 6Y and the sale-topping heifer Uppermill Rothes Jet from the Uppermill production sale in 2015.

Porterhouse oozes style in a modern frame, the combination of a fantastic Canadian beef line and the maternal strength of the Uppermill Rothes cow family. Depth of breeding on both sides of Porterhouse. Sire's bloodline includes HC Timeline, Diamond Captain Mark, & New Beginnings Elsie Jade, all of which were selected by Grant Alexander to be part of a very successful embryo breeding programme, as with any of Grant's selections it's based on the animal's proven abilities to produce easy doing, easy fleshing, maternal beef cattle. Dam Uppermill Rothes Jet, was born into the oldest active herd in the Beef Shorthorn breed as the breed celebrates its 200 year anniversary this year. The Rothes cow line is synonymous with the Uppermill herd, many of their biggest success over the years were derived from the Rothes cow family.

Porterhouse represents all that is great about Canadian Shorthorn's mixed with the greatness & strength of the UK's most prolific maternal lines. He is certain to add qualities to any herd looking to improve their herds beef or maternal qualities. Glebefarm beef shorthorn herd was established in 2017 by Alfie & James Shaw with the purchase of foundation females from the UK and Ireland. Over the last three years we have been awarded the Best Small Herd in the Northern Ireland herds competition in 2019 & 2020, winning Large & Best Overall Herd in 2021. We travelled to the Royal Highland Show in 2019 winning Reserve Overall Champion and best exhibitor breed animal with our homebred heifer Glebefarm Cherry May and also placed first with Glebefarm Duchess Molly in junior heifer class. Duchess Molly in her next showing trip to Balmoral in 2021 lifted the Reserve Overall title with her heifer calf Glebefarm Duchess Rosemary at her side. Docility, longevity, functionality and beefing ability from grass are all the traits at the heart of our breeding programme.
